Killer at Large Documentary

I watched Killer at Large today and thought it was one of the better documentaries I had seen on the topic of obesity in America.
The film investigates disturbing trends in how not only food addiction, but stress and fear, under-regulation and misinformation all contribute to the nation’s swelling weight problems. Examining the often unhealthy state of school lunches and negative influence of kid-oriented advertising, the documentary reveals connections between the government and the food industry, exposing how children are the real victims of this obesity crisis. Highlighting the example of twelve-year-old Brook Bates, whose 2006 liposuction surgery made national headlines, the film contemplates how the indoctrination of children to perpetuate unhealthy habits will supersede laying the blame on personal accountability.

Septimus Piesse and the Odophone

“ Scents, like sounds, appear to influence the olfactory nerve in certain degrees. There is, as it were, an octave of colors like an octave in music; certain odors coincide, like the keys of an instrument. Such as almond, vanilla and orange blossom blend together, each producing different degrees of a nearly similar expression” - Septimus Piesse”

Septimus Piesse created the concept of merging scent and sound in the brain. He was responsible for the highly informative The Art of Perfumery, and he identified odor molecules as having particular notes associated with them. This was the origin of the perfume industry"s use of musical terminology when describing odors (note etc.). In what he described as an Odophone, he compared sharp, attention grabbing scents with higher pitched notes and heavy scents with lower notes (think dark, heavy bass.)



The Odophone.—The late Dr Septimus Piesse endeavoured to show that a certain scale or gamut existed amongst odours as amongst sounds, taking the sharp smells to correspond with high notes and the heavy smells with low. He illustrated the idea by classifying some fifty odours in this manner, making each to correspond with a certain note, one-half in each clef, and extending above and below the lines. For example, treble clef note E (4th space) corresponds with Portugal (orange), note D (1st space below clef) with violet, note F (4th space above clef) with ambergris. It is readily noticed in practice that ambergris is much sharper in smell (higher) than violet, while Portugal is intermediate. He asserted that properly to constitute a bouquet the odours to be taken should correspond in the gamut like the notes of a musical chord,—one false note among the odours as among the music destroying the harmony. Thus on his odophone, santal, geranium, acacia, orange-flower, camphor, corresponding with C (bass 2d line below), C (bass 2d space), E (treble 1st line), G (treble 2d line), C (treble 3d space), constitute the bouquet of chord C.

My Personal Healthy Eating Plan



I have been trying to create for myself a diet, not for weight loss but just for daily healthy eating. This has been quite a challenge as most of the information I come across is totally conflicting. It is really frustrating, but after a year and a half I have come up with something that I feel like works for me. So I thought I would share it although I would encourage everyone to do the work for yourselves and take active control over your health rather than being at the mercy of a capitalistic industry whose interest seems to preference profit over people. I have to say I am somewhat angry about all of this.  I am 43 and I am just now figuring out the proper way to eat.  I realize that some of this was my own fault and I take responsibility for that. However, I was not taught this as a child and neither were my parents.  What I was taught in school is the opposite of what is true.  I just don't really understand this, well actually I think I do and its pure evil. Anyway, this whole process started about five years ago when a friend of mine asked me to join her in a detox diet. I agreed and we did some research and chose the 21 day detox. This was actually a wonderful experience although it did take some getting used to. I grew up in the South where we eat fried meat three times a day and wash it down with sugary iced tea. So going cold tofurky for 3 weeks was a bit of a shock. However the diet plan came with instructional videos and several books regarding how it was created, how it worked, and how to eat properly and why. Lots of really useful and logical information.  The overall experience is designed to teach the basics of becoming your own doctor.

The 21 Day Detox participants are put on a three-week program:
Week 1 focuses on plant-based food, eliminating many of the toxins people receive in their diet.
Information included covers a wide range of topics such as food preparation, an acid/alkaline test, health food store tour, personal health coaching, nutritional medicine, enzyme theory, therapeutic fasting and the basic healing tools for becoming your own doctor. In the first week of the cleanse you will be encouraged to consume a plant-based diet. A move away from animal products will decrease the harmful exposure to toxins by as much as 50%. A menu, emphasizing organic whole foods, shopping guide and recipes are provided.

Week 2 moves you into a live-food diet with uncooked foods and two blended meals, which decreases stress on the digestive system.
In the second week of the cleanse you will be encouraged to consume a raw (uncooked) plant-based diet. A move away from cooked and processed foods will decrease stress on the major digestive organs and the supplements prepare the body for deep healing. An organic live-food menu, shopping guide and recipes are provided.

Week 3 is the liquid part of the program where the digestive organs get a rest and healing begins on a cellular level
In the third week of the cleanse you will be encouraged to consume a liquid diet. A move away from a whole live-food diet to blended food will give the digestive organs a complete rest and will supply regenerative nutrients to insure healing at the cellular level.
In the workshop, the benefits of a liquid diet for rapid healing are discussed. The workshop also covers the practical application of reflexology, yoga, meditation and light therapy with scientific evidence to substantiate the chakra system as a healing tool.

This was the beginning of my actually thinking about what I was eating and was definitely a wake up call. I continued from this point with a mostly vegetarian, somewhat vegan, and mostly raw diet. One really great cook book I still use today is Raw: The Uncook Book by Juliano. He has a restaurant in Santa Monica and was one of the first people here to advocate a completely raw diet. The recipes are really good. However it is expensive and extremely time consuming to follow this eating plan. The biggest obstacle for me was the dehydrating process which takes quite a bit of time. So I reverted to mostly vegetarian and vegan cooked foods with some raw thrown in every now and then.

The next discovery was Dr. Gerson and the Gerson Institute. Dr. Gerson established a special skin tuberculosis treatment program at the Munich University Hospital. In a carefully monitored clinical trial, 446 out of 450 skin tuberculosis patients treated with the Gerson diet recovered completely. In 1946, Gerson demonstrated recovered patients before the Pepper-Neely Congressional Subcommittee, during hearings on a bill to fund research into cancer treatment. Although only a few peer-reviewed journals were receptive to Gerson’s then “radical” idea that diet could affect health, he continued to publish articles on his therapy and case histories of healed patients.  In 1958, after thirty years of clinical experimentation, Gerson published A Cancer Therapy: Results of 50 Cases. This medical monograph details the theories, treatment, and results achieved by a great physician. Gerson died in 1959, eulogized by long-time friend, Albert Schweitzer M.D.

It is called a therapy because it was designed for people with illness.  It reconnected me with the 21 day detox stage three and made complete sense to me.  The issue was however, I do not have any illness, so the design of the Gerson Therapy did not fit into a daily eating plan for me. 

Then I came across the China Study. In The China Study, Dr. T. Colin Campbell, Professor Emeritus at Cornell University, details the connection between nutrition and heart disease, diabetes and cancer. Recognized as the most comprehensive nutritional study ever conducted on the relationship between diet and the risk of developing disease, The China Study cuts through the haze of misinformation and examines the source of nutritional confusion produced by government entities, lobbies, and opportunistic scientists.  In a nutshell they found that areas in China with high concentrations of cancer also had high concentrations of meat consumption.  Well there you go, Meat = Disease.  They also found that in areas where meat consumption was 10% or less of the total diet, there was a negligible amount of cancer.

At the same time I was reading Bruce Lipton's the Biology of Belief which is just amazing.  Here is a video lecture where he explains the whole concept.
Bruce is a cellular biologist who's theory is that our perceptions have a direct effect on our bodies.  Our bodies have two basic modes: Growth, a healthy optimal state and what he calls Fight or Flight, which is meant to be a temporary condition where growth is put on pause in favor of fighting or fleeing from a threat.  These states are created by the hypothalamus putting certain chemicals in our bodies. And these chemicals have impact.  That sweaty anxiety you feel from fear is generated by a chemical.  General stress can activate Fight or Flight which basically shuts down our immune system.  This made a lot of sense to me, and this work mirrored a lot of the personal development work I was / am also doing. 

Lastly I came across a lecture from Santo Bonacci called Secrets of Secrets: The Elixir of Life Hiding in the Bible which he has generously posted on youtube. This basically describes an ancient principle of health derived from the natural science of the universe. I thought it was also really amazing and there is some really great information in his videos. As a a result of this I came across Tissue Salts. They are the result of the work of Dr. Wilhelm Schuessler, a great nineteenth-century German physician. He did research in the ashes of people who had been cremated, to see what minerals were lacking in their cells and studied the entire history of these people, linking the missing minerals to the diseases they had. He concluded that there are 12 minerals that must be present in the body to perfect health.

By now you can see where I am going.  So the goal for me and my diet became to reduce or eliminate harmful chemicals either from processed foods or the environment or my own brain.  I came up with a diet or eating plan which endeavors to incorporate all of these concepts.  
I bought an Omega masticating juicer and starting juicing 2 times a day.  I juice all kinds of things but basically I took the Gerson Therapy as the basic guideline.  I also created a supplement routine which again uses the Gerson Therapy as a base then I added the12  tissue salts and iodine from kelp, boron and spirulina to help detox the body of heavy metals especially the pineal gland.   I try to eliminate fluoride as much as humanly possible in toothpaste and water (reverse osmosis filtration seems to be the best bet) and any other chemicals or foreign additives.
One thing I noticed is that when I added the juice to my diet I actually lost some weight which was odd as I was adding this to my three meals a day, so I was increasing my caloric  intake.  My conclusion was that even though the calories went up, so did the nutritional content.  Seems to me that most of the food available today has little to no actual nutritional content.  So even though you feel full, your body thinks it is starving so it goes in to storage mode, storing everything it can as fat.  When your body receives adequate nutrition, it burns off the excess naturally.  GO FIGURE...
So in addition to this I eat vegetarian/vegan whenever possible meals and as much of that raw as possible.  I occasionally eat meat in amounts that are well below the China Study's 10% suggestion.  I stay away from sugar as much a possible using honey, dates, or agave.  I try to get fiber from ancient grain breads (no wheat), flax seeds, and raw almonds. 

I find that Southern Indian cuisine is really flavorful and healthy and enjoying cooking recipes from these types of cookbooks.  Madhur Jaffery has some good ones.
I have pretty good luck buying supplements from Netrition.com, they usually have really good prices, but you have to check about natural ingredients.

One of the basic concepts with juicing is alkalinity.  Veggies are alkaline and animal products and most processed foods are acidic.  I test my pH with test strips, but I don't think this is directly related to blood pH.  It makes me feel better though and that's a perception thing.

The term pH literally means power Hydrogen. It's a measurement of the concentration of hydrogen ions. Each number of the pH scale represents a ten-fold difference in that concentration. Your alkaline buffer system has to work hard to neutralize overall acidity.

Food pH measurements can be deceptive. Just because a citrus fruit or apple cider vinegar measures a low or acidic pH doesn't mean it is acid yielding.

The key word is yielding, and it points to the metabolic result after ingestion. Even squeezing lemon or lime into a glass of water creates an alkaline yielding liquid.

Testing your pH by saliva or urine will result in slightly lower (acid) readings than your blood pH. Urine, especially from your first urination, will tend to be even lower as your kidneys have worked on eliminating acidity.

Not to worry if you're getting readings in the high sixes from either test. Different organs may have different pH readings than your blood reading as well.

Acidosis occurs when the blood reading goes below seven and stays there. This is usually what kills cancer patients, especially those who are poisoned with chemo or radiation.
Five simple approaches for an alkaline yielding dietYour alkaline buffer system is designed to take care of the inevitable alkaline/acid yielding food mix. But overworking your buffer will deplete it. Here's a list of acid and alkaline yielding foods to get an idea of what they are.

(1) Try to balance your diet with a 60/40 ratio of alkaline yielding foods to acid yielding, then up the ratio to 80/20. Typically, standard American diets (SAD) consist of mostly acid yielding foods. Fake fats, sugar, high fructose corn syrup (HFCS), bleached white breads and pastries and so on are extremely acid yielding. Focus on organic green veggies, smoothies, and juicing as well as green super foods such as chlorella. Fruits of all types, even citrus fruits considered acid, are all alkaline yielding.

(2) Moderate exercise helps the lymph eliminate acid wastes. Over exercising can create lactic acid which is - well, acidic. It's all about balance.

(3) Hydrate. Spring water is alive and alkaline, but few have access to it. It's necessary to drink water treated by reverse osmosis to remove fluorides. The treated water tends to be acid yielding. That's remedied by a squeeze of lime or lemon or a few drops of liquid trace minerals available from your health food store.

(4) Speaking of minerals, key minerals involved with the buffering process are magnesium, potassium, calcium, and sodium. Ironically, dairy foods tend to be alkaline yielding. So other sources of calcium should be looked into. It might be necessary to supplement magnesium, potassium, and calcium, at least until you've established an alkaline yielding diet. Look into magnesium oil (actually water applied topically) for the best magnesium solution.

(5) Oxygenate, sleep better, and stress less. Use deep breathing exercises or oxygen enhancing supplements. Increasing oxygen to cells increases their pH. Don't confuse that with cellular oxidation. Acidic cells cannot metabolize oxygen, so they ferment glucose to survive and become cancerous. Stress and poor sleep contribute to lower pH. Cancer cells cannot exist in a high pH and oxygen-rich environment. High pH and strong cellular oxygenation are directly linked. You can maintain your pH balance with these simple steps while ignoring those expensive magic-bullet pH boosting products.

There is not a single process in your body that requires fluoride, but swallowing this toxin has been found to damage your soft tissues (brain, kidneys, and endocrine system), as well as teeth (dental fluorosis) and bones (skeletal fluorosis). There are more than 100 published studies illustrating fluoride's harm to your brain, plus 25 published studies directly linking fluoride exposure to reduced IQ in children!i

Dr. Bill Osmunson, an avid supporter of fluoride opposition, states:

"No one fixes IQ. This is an irreparable, irreversible damage that's happening to our public. When you look at the bell curve of human distribution of intelligence, at the very bottom, way down there at the end, is what we scientifically call the mentally retarded. When you skew IQ five points down, that means that you're doubling the number of mentally retarded and you're halving the number of gifted and everybody else moves on down."

It’s also known that over time fluoride accumulates in many areas of your body, including areas of your brain that control and alter behavior, particularly your pineal gland, hippocampus and other limbic areas. One particularly striking animal study published in 1995ii showed that fluoride ingestion had a profound influence on the animals' brains and altered behavior. Pregnant rats given fluoride produced hyperactive offspring. And animals given fluoride after birth became apathetic, lethargic "couch potatoes."

Did You Know Drinking Fluoride Isn’t Even Good for Your Teeth?

Even if you were willing to risk brain damage and even cancer from drinking so much fluoride, in the event it might spare your teeth from decay … you need to know that systemic fluoride has not been shown to reduce cavities. The early historic studies on fluoridation found that naturally-occurring fluoride also happens to be found in areas that are high in calcium and other minerals. According to Dr. Osmunson, many dentists at the time theorized that this higher mineral content might be the real reason for the reduction in tooth decay.

There were some compelling studies showing that fluoride made teeth harder and more able to withstand acids. However, upon further review of the research literature, Dr. Osmunson realized that the evidence supporting fluoride really wasn't as strong as initially touted, and fluoride did not appear to reduce tooth decay to any significant degree.

In fact, he discovered plenty of scientific evidence showing that areas with LESS fluoride had less decay.

A recent review of 11 studies involving more than 7,000 children likewise showed that the effect of fluoride supplements on primary teeth could not be determined, with one study showing no cavity-reducing effect.iii Meanwhile, the study revealed the supplements have only dubious cavity-reducing effects on permanent teeth, and no difference was noted between fluoride supplements or topical fluoride for preventing cavities.

You’re Drinking a Toxic Industrial Waste Product

Even if you’re already aware that fluoride is in your drinking water, you might not realize that it is not the naturally-occurring variety. It’s not even pharmaceutical grade.

It's a toxic industrial waste product, which is also contaminated with lead, arsenic, radionucleotides, aluminum and other industrial contaminants, and even worse if your municipality is foolish enough to purchase it from China.

The story gets even more convoluted, as declassified files of the Manhattan Project and the Atomic Energy Commission show that the original motivation for promoting fluoride and water fluoridation in the United States was to protect the bomb- and aluminum- and other fluoride-polluting industries from liability. In the early days some of the sodium fluoride used to fluoridate water supplies in the U.S. came from Alcoa.

A couple of years later, they switched to the even more hazardous waste product hydrofluorosilicic acid from the phosphate fertilizer industry. But none of the studies on fluoride actually used the far more toxic and contaminated hydrofluorosilicic acid that is added to the water supply. Rather, they use pharmaceutical-grade fluoride, which while harmful, is not quite as bad as what's being used for water fluoridation. So, the health hazards are likely FAR worse than any study has so far discerned.

One early sign of over-exposure to fluoride is dental fluorosis, which typically begins as white specks on your teeth, which then progress to more unsightly yellow and brown mottling of the enamel. At the first signs of dental fluorosis, if you haven't done so already, you'll want to immediately eliminate as many sources of fluoride as possible. Shockingly, 41% of adolescents in the US currently have dental fluorosis from overexposure to fluoride. And remember nearly one-third of the US is NOT fluoridated.
Can You Remove Fluoride From Your Drinking Water?

Fluoride currently contaminates nearly 70 percent of the U.S. public water supplies. Therefore, it is an extreme challenge to limit your exposure even inside the safety of your own home. For people living in areas with fluoridated tap water, fluoride is a part of every glass of water, every bath and shower, and every meal cooked using that water.

You could opt for bottled water, but as a general rule, I don't recommend or encourage using bottled water on a regular basis—for a number of reasons. Not only does it contribute to profound amounts of environmental pollution, but a variety of toxins can leach from the plastic, contaminating your water. Not to mention the fact that you're not guaranteed a more pure product to begin with.

An estimated 40 percent of all bottled water is just bottled tap water that may or may not have received additional water treatment. In fact many bottles waters actually believe fluoride is useful to they add it back in the water! And many others just use filters that do not remove fluoride. So buying bottled water certainly is not a guarantee of getting either pure or fluoride-free water!

For pure drinking water, your best bet, from a practical perspective, is to filter the water coming into your own home. Unfortunately, fluoride can be quite difficult to remove from water once added in. Reverse osmosis systems have typically been recommended to remove fluoride, but according to fluoride activist Jeff Green, many home systems may not be very efficient at this task. Commercial systems are typically much better, as they have redundancy features not found in smaller-scale residential models.

So while you can easily choose not to take fluoride supplements or opt to buy fluoride-free toothpaste and mouthwash, you're stuck with whatever your community puts in the water, and it's very difficult to filter out of your water once it's added. Many do not have the resources or the knowledge to do so.

The only real solution is to stop the archaic practice of water fluoridation at the source and become a fluoride-free activist. However this does not mean showing up to your local municipal meetings and lecturing them about the dangers of fluoride. That approach rarely works.
What’s the Best Strategy to Get Fluoride Out of Drinking Water for Good?

A far more effective strategy is to find a champion already on the city council and mentor that person to do their own due diligence, which will eventually allow them to “discover” the truth themselves -- far more effective and far more likely to resist overturning the decision in a future administration.

I recently interviewed Jeff Green, who has been an activist in the movement to eliminate toxic fluoride from your water supply for the past 15 years. One element he addressed is that many of us who are first exposed to issues such as this enter into a world of anger at injustice, where we see the problem so passionately and so clearly that we carry the burden of truth and are in a hurry to tell others to set it right, viewing anyone who does not immediately agree with our view as opposition that must be overwhelmed with facts and a list of "shoulds."

In this state we look angry, and are easily characterized as a zealot, probably because we are. Asking someone without our passion to join us may not be that inviting.

Should we expect that this would be any different when speaking to authorities and asking them to act? If you are able to suspend your anger at injustice, able to switch your focus from stating the problem to addressing solutions, there are avenues available. If you would like to elevate your discussions from the argumentative "he said, she said" to letting the facts declare themselves, and you are in a position of authority from which you can champion the performance of due diligence, contact us for access to guidance and further information.

Stop fluoride exposure as much as you can. Even though you may have stopped drinking it in your water, many preserved foods contain it.

Second is to start using a sauna regularly. Saunas expel many heavy metals and toxins (including fluoride) from your system. Third, getting enough sunlight daily plays a large role in detoxing the pineal gland. As well as getting enough time in the dark. Sounds strange, I know. But the right balance of light and darkness helps to regulate the melatonin production (the main function of the pineal gland). Fourth is getting enough exercise (which also helps regulate melatonin production). And fifth is doing a raw liver detox. The raw detox is were most people cringe and get turned away. But it is very simple and effective. All that you need to do is drink two cups of tea a day, cut back on preserved foods, and increase your intake of raw foods. Here is the tea recipe that I use:

* 1 thick slice of organic lemon
* 1 piece of fresh organic ginger, 2/3″ long, peeled and bruised
* 1 cup boiling water (Recommended distilled)

Place lemon and ginger in cup. Add boiling water and leave to infuse for two minutes. Remove lemon and ginger and drink immediately.

Using these five methods is very effective! But it is not a quick fix. It took all of that fluoride years to accumulate, and it will take years to get it all out. Everyone is different and can expect different results, but for myself I started to feel a large difference in 3 months. I have now been doing it for 3 years, and have felt great! I am at the point that if I drink a cup of coffee that contains fluoridated water, or eat a processed food that has fluoride, I become physically ill.

Other tips: Eat foods high in iodine. Iodine also allows the release of fluorides from your system.


Detoxifying with Boron, Iodine, and Pure Distilled Water
Boron is a worthy fluoride remover. Adding to your diet foods which are rich in boron, such as raisins, dates, dried apricots, red kidney beans, hazel nuts, brazil nuts, walnuts, almonds and peanut butter, will clean the fluoride out of your system.
It’s also worth noting that Boron has anti-cancer properties. It can wipe out fungus and decrease mycotoxins which are the true cause behind cancer, arthritis, candida and polycystic ovarian syndrome.
Another option is iodine. It’s been clinically proven that iodine removes fluoride from your body by flushing out the system through urination. Besides taking an iodine supplement, foods which are high in iodine include sea vegetables (like seaweed), cranberries, yogurt, navy beans, strawberries and dairy products. Since cleansing your body is your goal, it’s always best to buy only the organic varieties when detoxing and thereafter.
Eliminating fluoride with iodine diminishes the calcium in your body, so it is advised to take a highly absorbable calcium/magnesium supplement as well as lecithin (which can be found in egg yolk, milk, legumes, Atlantic cod, salmon, shrimp, broccoli, and Brussels sprouts).
Increasing your iodine intake immediately cleanses your body of bromide, fluoride and many other heavy metals like mercury, lead, cadmium and aluminum.
Dry Saunas
When combined with exercise, dry saunas release sodium fluoride stored in fatty tissues by “sweating it out.” It can be intense enough to cause side effects or an occasional healing crisis. In order to combat this, keep your pure distilled water intake high and drink some chickweed tea to protect the kidneys while using a highly absorbable calcium/magnesium supplement. Lecithin is another useful adjunct to this method for fluoride detoxification.
This method should be done on a regular schedule by first exercising vigorously for 30 minutes, followed by hour of sauna time, a cold shower, and another hour of dry sauna time, for a period of two weeks. It’s important to keep in mind that the main goal of this process is to sweat out the toxins as much as possible. Bananas are great to replenish your potassium and avoid eating acidic foods if trying this method of detox. Flood your system with distilled water to compensate for the water loss through perspiration. Salt tablets are helpful to replenish the salt loss.
Avoiding Fluoride
Now that you know how to get fluoride out of your system, how can you keep it out?
Well, first of all, distilled water is the only water which is completely pure and should be the only type of water ingested to keep the fluoride out of your system – whether you’re using the water for cooking or drinking.
Reverse osmosis is another option. It is the only known water-filtration system that can remove fluoride from the water supply in your home. Staying on a strictly organic, non-GMO diet is equally important. Certain foods, like iceberg lettuce, potatoes, citrus fruits and raisins, can contain high amounts of fluoride, and it’s best to avoid them or stick to the organic, non-GMO versions.
Maybe you didn’t have control over the fluoride entering your system or were led to believe that it was actually healthy for you. Now it’s your choice to cleanse your body and say “adios” to fluoride for good!

Blue green algae (along with green algae such as Chlorella) contain chlorophyll, an antioxidant and deep green pigment. Bacteria such as Fecal Coliform cannot coexist with chlorophyll, which helps keep fresh water clear. Manly Palmer Hall (March 18, 1901 – August 29, 1990) was a Canadian-born author and mystic. He is perhaps most famous for his work The Secret Teachings of All Ages: An Encyclopedic Outline of Masonic, Hermetic, Qabbalistic and Rosicrucian Symbolical Philosophy, which is widely regarded as his magnum opus, and which he published at the age of 25 (or 27, 1928)
He has been widely recognized as a leading scholar in the fields of religion, mythology, mysticism, and the occult.
Carl Jung, when writing Psychology and Alchemy, borrowed material from Hall’s private collection.
In 1934, Hall founded the Philosophical Research Society (PRS) in Los Angeles, California, dedicating it to an idealistic approach to the solution of human problems. The PRS claims to be non-sectarian and entirely free from educational, political, or ecclesiastical control, and the Society’s programs stress the need for the integration of philosophy, religion, and science into one system of instruction. The PRS Library, a public facility devoted to source materials in obscure fields, has many rare and scarce items now impossible to obtain elsewhere.
In 1973 (47 years after writing The Secret Teachings of All Ages), Hall was recognized as a 33º Mason (the highest honor conferred by the Supreme Council of the Scottish Rite), at a ceremony held at PRS on December 8th, despite never being initiated into the physical craft.

George Washington, a man much loved, was the father of our country. Frederick Nietzsche, a man much loathed, was a 19th century German philosopher who brazenly declared that "God is Dead."

While these two men could not have been more different, their descriptions of government were oddly similar. Washington compared government to fire; "Government is not reason, it is not eloquence, it is force. Like fire it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master." (It cannot be proven conclusively that Washington himself originated this quote. However, it has been attributed to him for over a century and is in keeping with what he and the Founders said and wrote.)

Nietzsche groaned: "The state is the coldest of all cold monsters. Coldly it lies, too; and this lie creeps from its mouth: 'I, the state, am the people.'... Everything about it is false; it bites with stolen teeth." These observations by Nietzsche defy the romantic ideals laid forth by Lincoln in his Gettysburg Address: government of the people, by the people, for the people. Nobody ever said philosophy was easy.

While a safe and civilized society is not possible absent a properly empowered government, there is one lone fact which distinguishes government from all other human enterprises. Government is granted, by consent of the governed, the authority to utilize violence against citizens who break the law.

This singularity is shared by all forms of government; whether Democratic, Totalitarian, Feudal (rule by a noble class) or Theocratic (governed out of religious text.) Fail to pay taxes or send the children to school, and after the letters and telephone calls - eventually the authorities are going to kick the door down with guns drawn. The law is not voluntary, and it is the gun which puts the "force" in "enforcement." Government, while wholly indispensable, is also inherently dangerous.

Arguments about the proper size and role of government aside, I think most can agree that the foremost task of government is to ensure that the citizens are not deprived of life, not deprived of liberty, and not deprived of their (justly acquired) property. Marxists are free to disagree on the last point.

Looking back over the last forty or fifty centuries, governments in general have a very poor track record of protecting human rights. The 20th century was particularly atrocious in this regard - Bolshevism and Naziism produced in excess of 100 million human corpses. Human liberty is an exception - not the norm. We Americans take our freedom for granted.

A crucial feature of the American Constitution is a principle known as the Rule of Law. The Rule of Law requires that no one is exempt from the law, not the police or government officials, not the wealthy or celebrities, not industry or unions. While Rule of Law is far from perfect, unless strictly adhered to, what then remains is Rule of Man - government by whim of the political class.

As with many bygone nations, America finds herself slipping away from the Rule of Law, and sliding toward the Rule of Man - an American Caesarism. At whatever pace, the slightest perceptible movement toward Caesarism is reason to dispense (via ballot box) with every last elected politician in Washington D.C.

So what is American Caesarism? It is when the political class:

- Treats peaceable citizens as suspects of crime (Patriot Act, TSA, NDAA, etc.)

- Plunders the citizens' wealth by devaluing their savings via expansion of the money supply (inflation.) Thinkers ranging from Jefferson to Lenin wrote about this form of stealth robbery. Lenin was in favor of it. This is stealing, and the net results are no different than the forceable taking of ones valuables. Quantitative Easing makes the middle class poorer - especially seniors living off their savings.

- Repeatedly wages undeclared wars outside of our own borders, on other peoples' lands (their property), which causes violent "blow back" (a CIA term.) In his farewell address, Dwight Eisenhower warned of the dangerous influences of the military-industrial complex. Aggressive wars make Americans materially poorer and less safe, while enriching politicians and their favored donors.

- Makes a mockery of free markets by passing and signing unreadable, incomprehensible bills which were actually written by industry lobbyists. Housing, education, and health care are now unaffordable because Congress literally lets the banking and health care industries write their own legislation.

- Allows an entrenched Robber Baron class, which is not "one percent" but actually a tenth of that, to fund both "sides" of national elections.

- Deliberately creates a Moocher class, which is nowhere near 47 percent, in order to secure party votes.

- Allowed the national debt to continually grow at a faster rate than GDP, and then claiming that net output is growing. (See Karl Denninger's book Leverage, and his website www.market-ticker.org.) The U.S. economy has not grown based on the reinvestment of real surplus capital (savings) since before 1980. It is impossible for sustainable wealth creation to occur based on the emission of unbacked credit. What happened in 2008 was an economic prequake.

- That which cannot go on forever, won't. History tells us that an entrenched political class will not just give up their power willingly. It is entirely possible they will turn on the citizenry, just as they did in modern democratic states like Spain, France, and Germany.

While there is much that can be done to reduce gun violence, that is the subject of another article. Peaceable American citizens must not accept any further encroachments upon their right to bear arms. To do so would be a monumental error.

"Here is an Anonymous Video Of Document titled, "SILENT WEAPONS FOR QUIET WARS". I do not claim authorship AT ALL of it and have no understanding as to it's origins. The document is merely copied and pasted onto these movie clips and the author hilariously placed horrific images to jokingly illustrate how humans are trapped within a "Matrix" and can be controlled through the manipulation of currency and propaganda on a quantitative basis. I found it hilarious because the background images are so deviant and extreme, making the information seem out of the ordinary. You just have to burst out laughing when you see how silly and 'out-of-context' it all is, coupled with the irrational fears humans have of an oppressive 'police state'. However, the information within the document is surprisingly interesting. The document describes the potential to automate a society down to the logistical basic unit: The Human Worker (otherwise known as a unit of human energy). It is an anonymously published article which circulated around the internet in the early 1990's. The idea of reducing human beings to such mathematically predictable units is quite possible, as Dr. Edward Bernays (the greatest American propagandist EVER!!!) pointed out that the average person is irrational. Our unconscious desires rule us, as Bernays pointed out, and that the 'people are not in charge, but the people's desires are in charge'. Thus, a sort of "business matrix" (ie: the power of business) would be necessary to turn human beings into what he and Herbert Hoover called, "Happiness Machines", and would thus become the "key to economic progress of the United States". Herbert Hoover, Edward Bernays, and Walter Lippmann all saw the masses as irrational, animalistic, and barbaric in terms of public behavior analysis. Bernays saw humans as "stupid", Lippmann referred to the masses as the "Bewildered Herd" (Cattle). It was Bernays who suggested that you could get to the men through the women (as re-enacted in my documentary). Likewise, it was Bernays who suggested that people buy stock, right before the 1929 stock crash. The masses sure are stupid, and they never learn anything from history. The Purpose of Mythology



Over the past holiday I spent three weeks with my parents in very rural Kentucky. I always seem to have a selective memory about growing up in the South. There are lots of things I really love about Southern culture, but there are also many many reasons I chose to set out and try and find my own way to live. One thing with which I always struggle is the nature of how the people of that area choose to think about spirituality. In short they seem to have a very literal interpretation of the Bible. I am not exactly sure how this all came about, but it seems to be becoming more and more so every visit I make. One of my ancestors was a Universalist preacher, a religion that focuses on the elemental truth behind the dogma of structured religions, it embraces all religions and seeks meanings which are beyond the surface. My third-great grandfather's church has been gone for decades and sometimes I wonder if his enlightened ideals disappeared with it.

The whole literalism movement currently taking place in many places in America seems problematic to me. Joseph Campbell is one of my heroes and I agree with him that we have lost our mythology. For him myths were more important than our history as history is basically journalism, written by man and therefore subject to misinterpretation, personal agendas, and biases. This seems to be what has happened to religion. It has been misinterpreted, taken as a literal truth. We have lost the story behind the story.

Myths describe with story and on an emotional level the universal truths of our world and our relationship to it. These Universal truths are beyond man and often difficult to convey with language so metaphor, and allegory were used to facilitate understanding. If the stories are taken as literal truth, then the Universal truth is lost, the story of how to be human is lost.  We have forgotten that facts are not necessarily truths. Can you imagine a war being fought by groups of people who believe that what they are fighting for is a metaphor? When individual religious structures each claim to own the real truth, conflict is created. This was never the intention. Individual religions were just cultural permutations of the same Universal truths; the same stories told in different ways.

Myths are essential to human existence. The show us that there is something greater than ourselves. They evoke archetypal life events allowing us to identify with a greater cause. We can see our own lives in the stories conveyed by myths, we learn about ourselves. They are a container for our emotions. If the protagonist in a myth is the subject of our own life rather than our lives being the object of someone else's idea, then we are empowered rather than victimized. Myths also help us negotiate the transitions from one phase of life to another. They create rights of passage from childhood to adult and from adult to decrepitude and death.  Myths let us know where we are in our own lives within the structure and order of the universe.

When I first moved to Los Angeles from Manhattan, I knew nothing about what it was like to live here.  So all I knew to do was to go about doing things as I had before.  Right from the beginning this did not work.  I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but something felt really different here.  In NYC I would go out alone all the time and have a great time chatting with strangers or just enjoying being in the hustle and bustle of the city.  I never thought twice about it.  I felt like in L.A. people treated me differently when I was alone, like there was something wrong with me.  I felt like an outcast, like I was being judged, like there was some horrific reason no one was with me.  I started noticing that no one was alone in this city.  If I went to the movies alone, I was always the only one.  If I went to a bar, everyone was in a group and no one would chat with me.  I still haven't exactly figured out why L.A. is like this, but it did create the opportunity for me to ponder aloneness.  

And when I say aloneness I do not mean loneliness. Aloneness is the true nature of human beings. Throughout our lives, we live, grow, and die in society alone.  The very quest for enlightenment is based on a remembrance of being brought into the world as an alone being.  Our beings are made of two elements, our individuality and our personality. Our individuality is aloneness by nature, however our personality is societal and there must be a balance between the two.  Personality consists of roles dictated by society and is external; it cannot thrive when we feel lonely.  It flourishes only when connected with society. What others think about us, what we have earned, and what comforts we possess, are all part of personality. However when we think of ourselves solely as a personality we feel lonely. Individuality is internal, and is our true inner being. Unfortunately we often nurture our personality while ignoring our individuality. The cry of individuality struggling to be heard above the clamor of our personality is expressed as the pain of our loneliness.

Attention is sustenance for the personality. Whether positive or negative, we constantly crave and seek out attention. When we are alone there is no one to praise you or criticize us which is disturbing to our personality. This disturbance comes from the awareness that we are not our personalities, and that we are more than a husband, father, wife, or daughter, more than the labels attached to us. Asking the question "Who Am I?" will start the journey to move past our personality. At first there will be resistance to this process of inquiry, but once we understand and embrace aloneness we can start to love ourselves and others. This is true love that is a result of the realization and love of our own individuality. Otherwise, whatever we try to express as love is only manipulation or control, a contract, or a business agreement.  Contracts happen between personalities, but only love happens between individualities.

I consider life to be a journey, and this journey is toward absolute blissful aloneness.  We cannot take anyone with us, it just is not the nature of the journey. The moment we travel into ourselves, all connections to the external world disappear, in fact the world itself disappears.  This could be why mystics refer to the world as illusionary.  This is a difficult journey with many obstacles, but the reward is true bliss.  There is no other way to experience the profound joy in the connection to oneself and everything in the Universe.

TIPS


Be silent: Try to sit still in silence for a specific amount of time each day.  This will allow alone time with oneself and provide access to your inner truth and wisdom.  A routine practice of meditation can become an invaluable part of life.


Be open:  We can never know how life's experiences may show up for us or in what form. Try to live in a space of acceptance for the unlimited possibilities of life.
Embrace your feelings:  Fully functioning humans experience the complete spectrum of emotions, it's part of being human.  All of our emotions are valid and worthy of understanding and acceptance.  Trying contemplating the real emotion, the feeling under the feeling or initial reaction.  This is the access to our true self and our own uniqueness.

Do what feels good:  Take some time to discover what brings you joy. Music, cooking, dancing, whatever it is, then celebrate doing these things merely for the sake of bringing yourself happiness.

Experience nature:  Contemplating nature provides access to understanding how we are a part of all things.  We are deeply connected to every system and structure of nature and our world.  Take a walk or simply find ways to spend time in nature to acknowledge our connection.

Be grateful:  Try starting each day with gratitude. Upon awakening make a mental list of all the things you feel grateful about.  You will start the day in a state of appreciation of the magic of your life.
